Speakers

Dr Stuart Mason
BVSc (Hons) MANZCVS DACT

Stuart graduated from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 1999.  After two years of mixed practice work in West Gippsland in Victoria, Stuart moved to small animal practice where he developed a keen interest in small animal reproduction work.  In 2012 Stuart became a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Animal Reproduction and in the same year a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists.  Stuart has been performing small animal reproduction work since 2002 including inseminations with fresh, chilled and frozen semen in bitches.  Stuart has extensive experience in TCI (Transcervical Insemination) and has published two papers on the use of TCI with frozen semen in the bitch, one comparing pregnancy results of TCI to surgical insemination, and the other presenting continued results on frozen TCI.  Stuart has special interests in assisted reproductive techniques, pyometra and the effects of nutrition on reproduction.  Stuart regularly speaks at both national and international conferences and has published many peer-reviewed articles.

Dr Bruce W. Christensen
DVM, MS, DACT

Dr Christensen is a veterinary graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University.  After completing a residency in theriogenology (animal reproduction) at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine, he became a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists in 2006.  He earned a Master of Science degree in reproductive physiology from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and his undergraduate degree in conservation/wildlife biology from Bringham Young University.  Dr Christensen has held posts at an Australian equine hospital, large and small animal hospitals at the University of Florida and served as an assistant professor at both UC Davis and Iowa State University and is currently an honorary professor at the Veterinary University in Budapest, Hungary.  Dr Christensen owns and operates a canine and equine reproduction practice in Sacromento California: Kokopelli Assisted Reproductive Services.  Dr Christensen regularly speaks at conferences and has published many papers in peer-reviewed journals. 


Professor Michelle Kutzler
BSc DVM PhD MBA DACT

 Prof. Michelle Kutzler is a native of Kent, Washington. She graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After graduation, Prof. Kutzler worked in dairy practice in Minnesota for four years before going to Cornell University to pursue a theriogenology residency and a PhD investigating the effects of multiple courses dexamethasone on placental vascular blood flow in sheep. Prof. Kutzler also completed a Master in Business Administration in Organizational Leadership from Oregon State University.

Since 2002, Prof. Kutzler has been at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.  Prof. Kutzler teaches numerous courses including Companion Animal Production, Equine Reproduction, Calving School, Mammalian Reproductive Biology, and Hormone Action. Prof. Kutzler also enjoys giving lectures to colleagues and lay audiences. She has published widely in the fields of both large and small animal theriogenology. Prof. Kutzler spends much of her day mentoring undergraduate and graduate research students.

 Prof. Kutzler has been an active member of the Society for Theriogenology since 1994 and an active member of the American College of Theriogenologists since 1999. In recent years Prof. Kutzler has been undertaking important and extensive research on the side effects of desexing, most notably in relation to alterations of the blood levels of luteinising hormone (LH) after desexing. Prof. Kutzler is also on the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Alliance for Contraception in Cats and Dogs and the Chair of Scientific Committee for the Quadrennial International Symposium on Canine and Feline Reproduction, and the Director of Business Operation for the Oregon Women for Higher Education.

Dr Lori Prantil
MPS DVM DACVIM (Nutrition)

Dr. Lori Prantil is a board-certified veterinary nutritionist.  She graduated from Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in the United States. Following graduation she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at an emergency and referral hospital and then returned to the Tufts Cummings School for a residency in clinical nutrition. After completing her residency, Dr. Prantil joined the team at VCA South Shore (Weymouth) Animal Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts USA where she managed the VCA Nutrition Service until joining Royal Canin in Aimargues, France as a member of the R&D Develop Pet & Product Science team.
